Working calendar for the province of Castellón: local holidays

The 2026 working calendar for Castellón is read town by town: the province has 135 municipalities, the fewest in the Valencian Community, spread over eight comarcas that run from the Plana Alta and the Plana Baixa to the inland areas of Els Ports, the Alt Millars and the Alt Palància. Here are the local holidays of each one with the reason given in the DOGV (the regional official gazette). The twelve general ones are on Valencian Community public holidays.

Local holidays in Castellón de la Plana and the interior

In 2026 Castellón de la Plana has Monday 9 March off, Magdalena Monday, and Monday 29 June, St Peter’s Day. The Magdalena is its big fiesta, and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana places it from 27 February to 7 March in 2027. Outside the capital, each full council chooses its own.

The most common dates

Monday 13 April 2026, St Vincent Ferrer’s Monday, is the most common local date: 32 of the 135 municipalities choose it. Next comes 7 December, in 15 municipalities, and behind it 20 March and 24 August, with 11 each. Eight have 9 March off, the same day as the capital. The rest are spread over dozens of different dates, so check your town before assuming it has the same days off as its neighbour.

Two municipalities with no date

The 2026 DOGV left Sacañet and Vilanova d’Alcolea “undetermined”. No correction has been published to fill them in, so their entry says exactly that and does not invent a holiday. If you work there, ask at the town hall. For the same reason, you will not find “estimated holidays” for 2027 here: when there is no published data, we say so.

What changes in 2027

The Community’s twelve public holidays are published. 9 d’Octubre falls on a Saturday and is not moved, and St John’s Day, which was a regional holiday in 2026, stops being one. In December, Monday the 6th (Constitution Day) and Wednesday the 8th (Immaculate Conception) leave Tuesday the 7th as a bridge day. The 2027 local holidays are not published yet; they usually come out between mid-November and mid-December and, until then, we take no day for granted. And then come the corrections: in 2025 there were six, the last one in June.

Xepep, from Aspe

Our kitchen is in Aspe and we do not cater in Castellón: this page is here so that you have the facts straight. If you want to know what is being celebrated today, it is in the calendar; the twelve common holidays are on Valencian Community public holidays, and if you are in another province, see Alicante or Valencia. And if you ever put on a fiesta in the Alicante area, that is where we can help, with our local fiestas service.
