Public holidays in the Valencian Community in 2026 and 2027
The public holidays in the Valencian Community for 2026 and 2027 have already been published: twelve each year, plus the two local ones of each municipality. The calendar is built on three levels, and knowing who decides each one explains why the next town along has a day off that you do not.
The twelve Valencian Community public holidays
The first two levels are common to the whole Community. The State publishes in the BOE (the Official State Gazette) which national and regional holidays apply in each autonomous community: the 2026 list came out on 28 October 2025 and the 2027 one on 13 October 2026. The Consell (the regional government), for its part, approves a decree with the twelve days that apply to everyone: Decree 100/2025 for 2026 and Decree 42/2026 for 2027. The BOE and the decree match day by day. If you come across a website with “estimated holidays” for 2027, you do not need it: the official regulations are published and linked at the end.
The two local holidays of each town
The third level is your municipality’s. Each town’s full council proposes two local holidays, the regional employment department collects them and a resolution in the DOGV (the regional official gazette) publishes them. Aspe, for example, had 12 February and 5 August off in 2026. The 2026 ones came out on 14 November 2025 and, since then, the DOGV has corrected some municipalities; in 2025 there were as many as six corrections, up to June. The 2027 ones have not been published yet: going by past years, they normally appear between mid-November and mid-December. Until then, no local holiday for 2027 is official. To see the ones for your town, look up your province: Alicante, Valencia or Castellón.
What changes in 2027
24 June, St John’s Day, stops being a regional public holiday: it was one in 2026 and it does not appear in the 2027 decree. A town that wants to keep it will have to spend one of its two local holidays on it; Alicante, incidentally, already had 23 June as a local holiday in 2026 for the Fogueres. 15 August drops out too: in 2027 it falls on a Sunday and is not moved. In exchange, 1 November and 6 December come in; they fell on a Sunday in 2026 and fall on a Monday in 2027. Two out, two in, and the total is still twelve. And 9 d’Octubre 2027 falls on a Saturday and the Community does not move it: there will be no Monday off in lieu. Nor do 1 May (a Saturday) or 25 December (a Saturday) move.
Long weekends: check the day of the week
Bridge days (puentes) are not official: each company or collective agreement decides on them, but you can spot them on the calendar. In 2027, Good Friday (26 March) and Easter Monday (29 March) make four days in a row, and 12 October falls on a Tuesday. In December, with Monday the 6th and Wednesday the 8th both public holidays, Tuesday the 7th is the obvious bridge day. If you are organising a company lunch, check the day of the week before you fix the date.
Why it matters in our kitchen
In an events kitchen, the working calendar is the diary: fiesta weeks fill up months in advance, and the December company lunch depends on how the bridge days fall. If you already have a date, tell us about your company Christmas lunch or your local fiesta, or get a quote. And if you are looking for what is being celebrated today, it is in the calendar of fiestas and public holidays.
For All Saints you can bake the All Saints fogassa, made with sweet potato and aniseed, which bakes for 25 to 30 minutes at 180 °C.

Frequently asked questions
What are the public holidays in Valencia in 2026?
There are twelve across the whole Valencian Community: 1 and 6 January, 19 March (St Joseph’s Day), Good Friday (3 April), Easter Monday (6 April), 1 May, 24 June (St John’s Day), 15 August, 9 October, 12 October, and 8 and 25 December. On top of those twelve come two local holidays that each municipality chooses; the ones for the city of Valencia are on the province page.
How many public holidays are there in a year?
Fourteen: twelve in the working calendar, national and regional together, plus two local ones per municipality. In both 2026 and 2027 the Valencian Community has twelve regional holidays; what changes from one town to another is the two local ones. That is why two neighbours in different comarcas can share the same general calendar and still have different days off in February, April or September.
Which days will be public holidays in 2027?
In the Valencian Community, twelve: 1 and 6 January, 19 March, Good Friday (26 March), Easter Monday (29 March), 1 May, 9 and 12 October, 1 November and 6, 8 and 25 December, under Decree 42/2026. Compared with 2026, 24 June drops out, and so does 15 August, which falls on a Sunday. Each municipality’s two local holidays are still to come.
What are the official local public holidays in the province of Alicante in 2026?
Each of the 141 municipalities in the province of Alicante has two, and they are published in the DOGV with the reason for each. The most common is Monday 13 April, St Vincent Ferrer’s Day, chosen by dozens of towns. You can see the one for your municipality, grouped by comarca, on the Alicante province public holidays page.
